Cardboard Art

Darth the Mountain Gorilla was made using the 123D Make system.  It took 124 recycled cardboard pieces and 26 hours to assemble.  The base is made out of a recycled poster tube and a box filled with concrete.

2064

Felony

In 2064, every federal agency is now run by Google.  This is no exception for the former Federal Bureau of Prisons.  Google decided to reinstate Alcatraz to it's original purpose as a Federal Prison.  Criminals from all over the country are brought to the now hi-tech island.  All prisoners have barcode tattoos on their scalps to track their movements throughout the prison.  This also easily identifies any escapees.  Each prisoner wears a different colored suit to signify what type of crime they committed.

I am wearing a yellow suit to signify that I am an internet felon.  I organized major internet fraud at the age of 32.  I have been in prison for almost 40 years.  I don't know how the world has changed because I have been locked away, but I do know that I have to wear a suit to protect me from the harsh rays of the sun and the illnesses that plague our planet. I hope to be released from Google Prison by the year 2071.

Crumpled Leaning Tower of Pisa

My first attempt at 123D was not a success.  I used the browser option on my Mac and it never saved.  It gave me the progress bar for hours.  I learned that the program is counter intuitive.  I wanted to use matte base but busier patterns work better.  I also thought that the more pictures the better but less pictures seemed to work with the program better.

2064

After Joe mentioned the Home Depot city, I knew that's the route I wanted to go.  I hope that 72 year old Erin won't give into commercialism by living in a Home Depot city, but I do think that there is a slight chance I would be in Federal Prison for illegally downloading movies.  In this future, Google now runs the Bureau of Prisons.  Prisoners do not get the luxury of hair because Google chooses to tattoo bar codes on all prisoners scalps.  The four Google colors indicate the security levels.  Red means the prison committed a violent crime, Blue means they committed a sexual crime, Green means they stole or laundered money, and Yellow means they committed internet fraud.

In 50 years...

This image displays 3 key elements of our present that will affect our future.
  • Pollution
    • Lake Tahoe loses one foot of clarity every year.  There are only 35 feet of clarity left.  So if we continue to pollute our local environment, then the Lake Tahoe that we know and love will be gone in 50 years.
  • Disease
    • Our current society relies on instantaneous results and that is no different with illness.  People demand anti-biotics when they don't actually need them and as a result bacteria has begun to mutate to be anti-biotic resistant.  In 50 years illness we be a constant worry and thus a surgical mask will be a necessity.
  • The Internet
    • The other day I noticed that there are teaser trailers for super bowl commercials.  This is being fueled by the commercialism of the internet.  Hopefully, Lake Tahoe will remain Lake Tahoe but I don't think it is a stretch to see the major internet companies like Google, really start taking over the world.
In 50 years I will 72.  I will often reminsce about the good old days of hanging out at Tahoe.  I will regret not wearing sunscreen and drinking too much on the beach but I will have many good memories.  I am a nostalgic person, so I know in 50 years I will return to Lake Tahoe to see that it's beauty has changed.  I anticipate the Internet taking over everything about our way of life.   Hopefully, the Lake Tahoe that we know and love will not become a #ThrowbackThursday.
